Recovering Partial 3D Wire Frames Descriptions from Stereo Data

چکیده
We describe the design of modules in the current version of the TINA stereo based 3D vision system responsible for the recovery of geometric descriptions and their subsequent integration into partial wire frame models. The approach differs considerably from that described in an earlier version of the TINA system [2, 3]. Our strategy for the construction of partial wire frame descriptions is broken into the following three processing stages:

3D geometric modeling of real-world characters from multiview video is one of the popular topics in computer vision. In order to capture detailed and accurate 3D geometric model (Time-varying mesh), however, most proposed systems use only some static components(e.g. intensity, texture, color) of the generalized frames, e.g. photometric stereo method, stereo matching method. On the other hand, t...
متن کاملReal-Time Stereo within the VIDET Project
V IDET is a research project active at the University of Bologna and aimed at the development of a mobility aid for the visually impaired. VIDET’s approach consists in the conversion of depth data gathered through a stereo-vision system into a 3D model perceivable by the user by means of a wire-actuated haptic interface. In this paper we describe VIDET’s PC-based, real-time, stereo-vision syste...
متن کاملTINA: A 3D Vision System for Pick and Place
This paper provides an overview of the Sheffield AIVRU 3D vision system for robotics. The system currently supports model based object recognition and location; its potential for robotics applications is demonstrated by its guidance of a UMI robot arm in a pick and place task. The system comprises: 1) The recovery of a sparse depth map using edge based passive stereo triangulation. 2) The group...

We examine the problem of computing shape descriptions from stereo, where by shape descriptions we mean 3-D volumetric descriptions of objects rather than a 2 2 -D depth map of the scene. We argue that intermediate 2 2 -D depth measurements may not be always directly available from stereo, especially when there are curved surfaces in the scene, and that 3-D volumetric descriptions of objects ma...
